WISH LIST: [pantone | capture | color]

This is absolutely genius and I want it. As a graphic designer, I'm always trying to pick the perfect Pantone color to match with something else. This device scans it and tells you which Pantone color matches with the color swatch you're trying to match to.

The only problem is that it'll cost you $649.

WISH LIST: [ mypantone | iphone app]

lookie lookie what i found! I LOVE the idea of this. who need Pantone swatches now if you have an iPhone app?! You can even take a photo and it'll tell you the Pantone swatchs in the image. AMAZING!!

My only concern is... how accurate can the colors really be via iPhone? Plus obviously the metallic swatches wouldn't work very well via iPhone, so I'm assuming the swatches are going to be limited.

But it's a very good idea. I wish there was a free trial to test it out though.

GREAT FIND: [poladroid project | program]

did the news of Polaroid stopping production on their instant cameras over a year ago sadden you as much as it did to me?!

well i've just found the next best thing. it's not as cool as the actual thing but its just as close. it's called Poladroid – an online program available for Windows and Mac users that converts your digital shots into digital Polaroid look-alikes. YAY!

What’s so cool about about Poladroid? You drag and drop your digital photos on top of the camera and then the camera shoots out a blank photo (just like the real thing) that slowly “develops” on your computer desktop.

Sticking true Polaroid form, you can only take 10 shots at a time.

Also, for you iPhone owners, Shakeit is an iPhone App that uses the same tinted colors, staggered developing process and entertaining “shake” technique. which means the Polaroids actually develop quicker if you shake it. This app will costs you $.99 US. i might have to carry around my deactivated iPhone just to have this app handy haha.

Polaroid is also coming out with PoGo but its just not the same without the white border and the crazy vintage-looking color hue. if you know what i mean?!

FYI: [bb bold | lanyard]

did you guys know that the blackberry bold 9000 has a lanyard holder???

i'm so sad, because when i first got the phone i was looking for a place to put the lanyard and i saw the hole and the hook (but i didnt know it was a hook) i was going to loops it around the frame but i thought i might be covering a mic or something...

if only i knew this earlier maybe i wouldn't have dropped my phone and jacked up the frame 2 months after getting it. ha oh well... lesson learned!

if you need replacement part for you phone like i do after dropping it.. go check out http://cnn.cn my coworker said he's ordered stuff from there and it was pretty close to the manufacturers.

go to crackberry.com to see why you should have a lanyard. lol

WISH LIST//: [ipod | nano]

i have this thing about buying new technology of an item that i already own... can't do it. that is unless it stops working and out dated and i can't get things to function properly, in which case that would still fall under the "stop working" category.

i bought my first and only ipod (photo) in 2004. it was the first ipod to be able to hold/view photos and then it was discontinued 6 months after i got it. for ones that held video and photos.. sigh! great just my luck right?! ha

well for the last couple of snowboarding seasons (thats probably the only time i ever use my ipod) my ipod has been very unreliable. some times it would work, other times it would stop working, one time it erased everything on it, and so on and so on. but i decided to stick it out and hoped it would work when i needed it too. now that i think back, i think it pooped out on me last season too. but i think i only went boarding 2 or 3 times so i forgot about it until i went up to mammoth the day after xmas and all i could get out of it was the folder/face or death. So i've OFFICIALLY have given up on my ipod photo.. FINALLY!

and to save money i thought i'd just use the hubby's old ipod mini when i went up to tahoe to go boarding, but the battery only lasted me an hour. boo! although i love the new nano, the size, the light weight, the new cool features, etc. i think i'm going to be good and just use my iphone as my ipod.... for now! now i just have to remember to bring the adapter for my headphones... sigh.

but if anyone is feeling nice and generous.. i'd love you forever! lol

TECHNOLOGY//: [iphone | concept]

With me being a apple user/fan and nerd/geek that i am, of course i HAD to get the gen. 1 iPhone when it first dropped. it was new, fresh and it synced up to the apple computers beautifully. but unfortunately with most new products and/or devices there were a lot of things that it lacked (on/off switch for the touch screen, AIM/iChat, copy & paste, reliable email, the list goes on.) they've slowly updated and fixed a few of the issues but in the end the iphone just wasn't for me.

So of course once the new Blackberry Bold 900 dropped i HAD to get it the first day it dropped and if you read my review on the BB Bold you'd know how much i LOVE it.

BUT when i saw this concept on gizmodo.com i thought to myself "i might try going back to the iphone if they made this happen." the video iChat was actually one of the rumors that were floating around the iPhone 3G (gen. 2) was going to have it. of course the iphone would have to improve a whole lot more than just a video ichat for me to convert back to it, but that would be a step in the right direction.

PHOTOGRAPHY//: [nikon | d90]

since i can't bring myself to buying the $5000 Leica M8 (just yet.. haha), i've been leaning towards getting the Nikon D90 for now but i'm still looking into it and doing my research.

costco.com has this from $1179.99

PHOTOGRAPHY//: [leica | m8]

i'm not a hardcore photographer or anything, but i do love photography. for YEARS now my dream SLR camera has been this beauty above, the Leica M8.

i have to admit, what drew me to the Leica M8 wasn't it's awesome image quality, filters and/or lens (which i found out later are one of the best and most expensive), it was actually the retro body that the kept. i LOVE it. i wish more camera manufacturers brought back their retro bodies.

maybe i love the Leica's retro body because it looks like the old Canon i use to shot with (35mm) years and years ago which was my mom's from when she was younger. if only it was a digital i'd still be using it. sigh!

the retail on this baby starts around $5000 for just the body.

TECHNOLOGY//: [web browser | firefox]

obviously with me being a graphic designer, naturally i'm a Apple/Mac user.

at first in OS9 i used internet explore but when OSX came along i've always used Safari for my main web browser. i believe Firefox came out a little after but i never did the move over to Firefox... that is until now. Safari seems to have a few glitches here and there which seem to be fine in Firefox.

so I've officially decided that i'm going to try out Firefox fully as my default web browser. we'll see how it goes.

REVIEW//: [blackberry | bold 900]

The day I FINALLY joined the crackberry nation (aka addicted blackberry users) was on November 4, 2008. The very day the new blackberry bold was released by AT&T to the USA. The second day I got the Bold I wrote a small short/early review and I said i'd write another one once i've used it a little longer. Today's that day!

Let me just first off say I'M IN LOVE and with any love it's not perfect but I'm willing to look past the imperfections (for the most part at least ha). I've now had the Bold for over 2 months now and I believe I'm able to give a pretty accurate review about it at this point.

• VISUALLY (exterior): its sleek, clean, the screen is vibrant and I love the faux leather backing. It's easier to grip and a nice texture vs the BB Curve's slippery plastic one, etc., the only thing that's a draw back is the silver border is black plastic painted silver. So when you drop the phone and it dents/chips/scratches the plastic is shows the black.

• GUTS: the new OS is nice and the icons are clean they reminds me of a Mac's. As for applications it seems that BB devices only are allotted a certain amount of space and you can't use the Slot memory card to add to it. Also the OS freezes once in a while and you'll have to do a hard restart which is taking out the battery and putting it back in. the Bold has wifi and bluetooth and it's also 3G. one thing the iPhone has over the BB Bold is that the iPhone 3G you're able to turn off the 3G if you'd like, while on the BB Bold you stuck to using it unless it drops on you and go to the EDGE network.

• SOUND/PLAYBACK: this is one of the things the BB Bold trumps on the iPhone... the speaker on this bad boy is amazingly loud and clear. As for the music playback it now has a previous song/next song button (vs the old curve). The only thing I don't like is that it can't play music I buy from itunes (but I think I read some where now you can... but I'm not sure) which I blame itunes for more than RIM for this flaw.

• EMAIL: this feature is what BB is known for and yet another feature that trumps the iPhone over. Out of all the devices i've owned (which tech only my sidekick and iphone had email) the BBs email system is AMAZING. It's extremely reliable and fast. On the sidekick and iPhone you can wait up to 30 mins to 24 hrs to receive an email. The blackberry works on its own emailing system so it's able to shot you your email right away. LOVE IT!

• MESSENGER: aka BBM aka Blackberry Messenger. Oh how I love thee. for those of you who don't know BBM is I AIM for BB user to other BB users. I never knew how many people I know owned a BB until now. The great part about it is its FREE to BBM unlike AIM for BB thats actually considered text messages. I'm trying to convert all my friend that aren't BB users to do so mainly for BBM reasons and because it's so reliable ha.

• WEB BROWSER: one thing that I loved about the iPhone was it's internet browser and how you are about to control it with the touch screen. But to be honest the BB Bolds browser isn't to shabby. When it comes to mobile browsing to be honest I don't do much of it either way it takes too long to load (iphone and/or bb bold)... I can wait until I get to my laptop or desktop for most things.

• CAMERA/VIDEO: the pixel in the camera is lacking a little (iphones resolution is a tad better), but at least theres a flash (unlike the iphone). I'm still trying to figure out the setting for the camera. The flash is a little harsh on the photos and washes things out at times. the video is also at a tiny qlty, but what do you expect its a mobile phone right?! at least there's a video. yay! (even tho i'll hardly ever use it ever heehee.. just nice to have)

All in all I love the phone. I wouldn't go back to the iphone for nothing (until they come up with a solution for all the things i hate about it now... then we'll see). Personally, its well worth the money. But then again I am a tech geek in a way. It'll be hard to sway me away from being a crackberry addict now! Look even president select Obama can't resist it. haha

COME JOIN THE CRACKBERRY NATION TODAY!!!! lol

WISH LIST//: [fashion meets technology]

As a Graphic Designer it's a given that I'm a Mac user, but before i became a Graphic Designer i used a PC. It's been over 8 years since i've been a constant PC user but i think that might soon change... will sort of.

Although i love Mac's and of course will never give up on being a Mac user (being that i am a graphic designer and all) the fact is that almost all of my technological toys are PC based. Which you'd think being that the hubby is a PC user i wouldn't have any trouble right?! Well not exactly, he took apart his desktop and left it at his parents house. Oh but wait, he did just buy a new gaming laptop... oh but yeah no. he leaves that at his friends house 24/7. So i thought, why don't i just get a mini PC netbook for all that stuff. plus it'll be better to travel with a mini laptop (like to visit my parents, road trips, flights, airports, etc.) when i don't need to work on any graphic stuff. (because right now my Mac laptop takes up a whole carry-on.. not cool =p)

Ok to tell you the truth i didn't really start thinking about getting a PC netbook until i saw this one...

HP Mini 100 Vivienne Tam Edition - Starts at $699.99 @ hp.com
Dimensions 10.3 in (L) x 6.56 in (W) x 0.99 in (H)
Weight 2.45lbs

isn't she a BEAUTY??!! she's a size of a clutch. PERFECT!

** one of the main negative things for me tho is that it has no CD/DVD drive. oh well... good thing it wouldn't be my main computer ha. oh and being a mini laptop it only get maybe half of the battery life of a normal laptop.

UPDATE//:___________________________________________

or should i just get their black one which cost about $200 cheaper. =P

but i do love the gold on the red one.. maybe ill just paint some of the parts on the black one gold muwahaha.

what do you think??

MUST HAVE//: [google | mobile maps]

i've been hearing about google maps for your mobile device for a little while now and since the Blackberry doesn't have a maps application like the iphone did i decided to give it a try and download the free application

let me just say it's amazing! even better than the iphone maps application (which is google as well). google maps mobile can target your exact location to the T (unlike the iphone gen1 where it showed just the general area) and it gives you a "street view" option so that you know what the place you're driving to looks like from the outside. AMAZING!

i recommend that everyone to download this onto the mobile device. it's a very hand thing to have in the end. (especially blackberry uses that don't pay for the maps)

enjoy!

MOBILE//: [iphone game | parking lot]

One of the greatest games on the iPhone if you like puzzles is this game called PARKING LOT. It has puzzles ranging from easy to hard with 9 different packs and about 38 puzzles in each pack.

Both the hubby and I are both trying to go from pack 1-9 and finishing each and every puzzles in the pack. Some of them are extremely hard. It's very addicting, for us at least. ^_^

So if you have a iPhone and/or iPod touch I strongly recommend this game to you.

** for those of you who are wondering the BB Bold is still my main phone. But I'm able to use my iPhone thru wifi. So it's like a iPod touch with a camera now. ^_^

TECHNOLOGY//: [smartphone | bb bold]

the BLACKBERRY BOLD officially was released yesterday in the USA by AT&T.... FINALLY! and of course like the tech whore that i am i had to go get one. i've been waiting for this smartphone to come out since May 2008 and it's gotten pushed back 4 times since july. but to be honest so far so good. it's a new device with a new OS so there's not a lot of applications etc out right now (like AIM) and/or there's a little tweaks in few of them that are out like the facebook app. its not as good as the iPhone's facebook app, thats not really a deal breaker here for me lol.

i'll give my official complete review after i've had it for a while. i'm a new BB user so i'm figuring everything out as i go. but so far what i do like about it vs. the iPhone is the email. the BB email system is seamless compared to the iPhones... the iPhones doesnt even come close.

one of the negative things is that the dont have an official BB tools for Mac users. there is something called PocketMac but its not reliable and it took me probably 20 tries for it to finally work and get all my contacts onto my BB. i'm not sure if its because i have the new BB Bold which has a completely new OS, but i wasn't able to sync or add music or videos which sucks and unfortunately the only way to add things onto the BB is thru BB tools and/or PocketMac. but other than thats it's GRRREAT.. so far. lol

UPDATE:
i finally figured out how to sync my music and video on the BB BOLD via PocketMac. i did some research online last night and came across this link that tells you how. the only thing is it doesnt work with the song you directly purchased from itunes. in itunes you have to convert them into MP3 in order to add them on to the device.

TECHNOLOGY//: [camera | phone]

those darn japanese and their nifty electronics. they're coming out the a flip phone and a 8.1 mega pixel camera all in one.. oh oh and video recorder. they also make phones that let you purchase things using the cell phone to scan it. it was only a matter of time until they came up with this. it's a sweet idea if you take lots of photos. maybe i would take lots of photos if my camera was this convenient to carry around.
