STYLING: [gentry | photo shoot | f11 & SS12]

Hi Lovelies,

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I know I sure did. This past Saturday, GENTRY asked me to co-style their Fall 2011 and Spring/Summer 2012 photo shoot with the amazing Ed Choi up at the Stahl House in the Hollywood Hills (photographed on the right). I was extremely excited and honored that they had asked me to help style they're shoot. On top of never really focusing on just men's styling before, I was also excited to be able to work with all of GENTRY's amazing men's accessories (neck pins, tie pins, tie bars, pocket squares, bow ties (new) and neck ties).

It's definitely a lot easier to style a shoot when you believe in the product, as well as the brand's vision. What I love about GENTRY is their effortless, classic with a modern take on men's accessories and of course their attention to details. I think that more men should start investing in their accessories. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that I see more men out their wearing tie bars but how about adding a little more character to the accessories?! Like GENTRY's Fitzgerlad collection. This is probably by far my favorite collection from GENTRY. I'm in love with the Carraway set and the clock tie pin is my all time favorite.

ATTENTION ALL MEN: please start wearing tie pins, I love them more than tie bars (but I love tie bars too). It's a nice suttle touch of character to an outfit and I LOVE that! All you need is just a little detail to finish a look. As shown in the photo on the left on the handsome Warren Baker, the face of GENTRY. Which is actually a sneak peek pic at one of the looks from the shoot for GENTRY's Fall 2011 campaign.

Ok enough about my love for GENTRY and men's accessories... Now back to the photo shoot. We started off the day shooting GENTRY's Spring/Summer 2012 collections. Since Spring/Summer is more vibrant and colorful, it was only natural to start off the day with the SS collection. Which I personally had the most fun with styling wise (I think Ed did as well). In the Spring collection we also wanted to show people that men's accessories didn't have to be tied down to suits and evening wear. As you'll be able to see a little peek at in the behind the scenes photos below. (click image to enlarge photo)

Models for GENTRY's Spring/Summer 2012 is Warren Baker, Brian Thomas Gove and Austin Stowell. Photographed by Carl Lindstorm

After we wrapped the SS shoot at the Stahl House around 3pm, it was time for the Fall 2011 shoot. Unfortunately, I was wrapped up in the shoot that I completely forgot to take some behind the scenes photos for the Fall collection but I'm sure the one with Warren in the top left is good enough for you guys. However, here is a photo of all of us at the end of the day.

LOVE: [esty | baby | headband]

Esty is definitely a great place to find talented creators/designers. Today's LOVE goes to Esty designers Little Town Boutique. I'm also in LOVE with these newborn photos.

How adorably cute are these little felt flower headbands for newborns?! They even make them for adults.

LOVE: [1950s| inspired]

I love everything about this image. Love, Love, Love the 1950s inspired outfit. I adore the full skirt, head piece and the hair and make-up are a perfect finishing touch.

My least favorite about this photo is probably her shoes but I absolutely admire everything else captured in this photograph.

Absolutely Beautiful!

STYLING: [rachel & mark | krista mason photography]

A good friend of mine, Krista Mason of Krista Mason Photography, asked me to style some of her clients for their mini "love/holiday" shoot in late November of last year (2010). I've know Krista for many years now and we've worked together on a lot of projects but this was the first official time we got to work together as Photographer and Fashion Stylist, so I was super excited to join the shoot.

The morning of the photo shoot, it was cold, windy and slightly overcast. Luckily when it was time to shoot the sun came to join us.

[Mark is wearing a shirt, sweater & jacket, H&M; tie from Kenneth Cole; tie pin, Gentry; the rest is his own. Rachel's silk tank, cardigan, skirt & necklace, J Crew; Shoes, Joe's Jeans]

[Mark in his own clothing. Rachel's in a Lanvin + H&M dress; YSL platform pumps]

It was a pleasure meeting and styling Rachel + Mark. As well as, working with Event Planner/Set Designer Gianna San Filippo of Chic Celebration and of course Krista Mason of Krista Mason Photography. If you'd like to see more images from the shoot, check out the blog post from Krista Mason Photography.

Until next time..

STYLING: [felicia k | photo shoot]

As i mentioned in my last post last month, I had the pleasure of styling a photo shoot and working with my talented Hair Stylist & good friend: Jane Suh (owner of the Kutting Room), Photographer and Owner for The Social Trust: Paul Sun, and Make Artist : Melissa Christine.

In November, we all got together and joined our creative minds/talents to do a photo shoot for the beautiful & talented Felicia K of the sister singing group Jazmin. It was a fun & amazing experience. I had about 5-6 looks put together but unfortunately we were running out of time and only got to shoot 3 outfits.

the images above are a few of the photos taken that day by Paul Sun of The Social Trust. enjoy!!

PERSONAL: [camera | hobby]

for those of you that know me, know that I've always loved photography taking/developing (before digital)/admiring (i.e. my previous post about photography).

For awhile now I've been wanting to purchase a Digital-SLR. My ultimate dream SLR is the Leica M8. but lets face it people i don't have that kinda of money to be throwing around right now (starts around $5000 body only).

but besides money i worry about how often i'd actually end up using it. So i've been thinking (also for a long-long-long time) about getting the Nikon D90. but although its a cheaper it's still a pretty penny in my eyes (body & lens around $1200-1500) i still worry about how often i'll use it.

i mean i know i'll probably only use it for vacation and trips. but really besides this year, how often do i actually go on trip and vacations? right?! And since i go to my friend Krista who is a professional wedding photographer for all my camera/photography questons, i asked her the same thing about how often i'd use it. She said the one thing I never thought about, but does interest me... FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY!

Krista said "hey you never know, maybe you'll like it and get into fashoin photography!" and although I'm not sure i'd even be that good at photography, it did peak my interest when she said it. how awesome would that be if i became a fashion stylist AND fashion photography???!!

i'm dreaming i know! ha, but sometimes it's good to dream don't you think?

PHOTOGRAPHY//: [nikon | d90]

since i can't bring myself to buying the $5000 Leica M8 (just yet.. haha), i've been leaning towards getting the Nikon D90 for now but i'm still looking into it and doing my research.

costco.com has this from $1179.99

PHOTOGRAPHY//: [leica | m8]

i'm not a hardcore photographer or anything, but i do love photography. for YEARS now my dream SLR camera has been this beauty above, the Leica M8.

i have to admit, what drew me to the Leica M8 wasn't it's awesome image quality, filters and/or lens (which i found out later are one of the best and most expensive), it was actually the retro body that the kept. i LOVE it. i wish more camera manufacturers brought back their retro bodies.

maybe i love the Leica's retro body because it looks like the old Canon i use to shot with (35mm) years and years ago which was my mom's from when she was younger. if only it was a digital i'd still be using it. sigh!

the retail on this baby starts around $5000 for just the body.

PHOTOGRAPHY//: [max wanger | Photography]

when it comes to photography i love the not so traditional shots. like when photographer play with cropping, space and of course detailed shots... LOVE IT! to be honest for me personally when its done right i feel like it captures the moment better than just taking a regular photograph of people posing.

while i was surfing the blogs i ran into some photographs by Max Wanger over at A Cup of Jo. Max apparently had done Joanne's engagement photos and she found him from another blog. the power of blogs man!

here are a few of my favs of Max Wanger's photography
