SHOP: [ nunn better design | esty]

hello hello my lovelies!

i know it's been way too long since I've posted and i promise that i'm going to try my best to get back into posting on a regular basis. i have some exciting news for my first post back in eight months...

as a graphic designer over the years i've specialized in creating custom wedding invitations for my clients, which can be not so budget friendly at times. so earlier last year i decided to sign up for Esty.com and open up a shop to sell more affordable printable DIY options of my designs. it might've taken me a little while to start listing some designs but starting last week the NBD by Nunn Better Design on Etsy shop is finally up and running!!

so go check it out, like it, share it, add it to your circle & favorites!

ART: [rodarte | state of matter | exhibit]

For those of you that love the Academy Award winning movie 'Black Swan' and/or if you just love fashion in general, might want to head on over to MOCA in the Pacific Design Center in LA.

The Amazing Designers and now Costume Designers, Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte has installed featured pieces from Rodarte’s Spring 2010, Fall 2010, and Fall 2008 runway collections, as well as original ballet costumes designed for the feature film Black Swan.
This is one exhibit I'm sure not to miss. It's FREE and it's open until June 2011. So go check out the amazing work of art that is Rodarte when you get a chance.

PERSONAL: [internship | coco before chanel]

[image taken w/my bb outside the theater]

The stylist's Assistant & I have been starting work super early and @ times working late as well and it really meant a lot to us when the stylist was nice enough (& we were lucky enough) to let us go to the Coco before Chanel LA premiere yesterday night to watch the movie before it comes drops in theaters.

We were exhausted & had to start work early again the next day, but it was worth it. The movie was AMAZING, we loved it! Audrey Tautou was adorable (in the movie @ at the premiere). I don't normally like foreign films, reading subtitles to me... takes away from the movie, but Coco before Chanel was so well done. Of course to enjoy the film you'd probably have to LOVE Chanel, and/or love fashion because otherwise why would you care about Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's life before Chanel, right?!

Funny side note/story for you guys. so a while back when I was still a full-time graphic designer looking into getting my foot in the door as a fashion stylist, I received an email from the FIDM alumi department inviting me to a fashion stylist mixer/panel (last year). So of course I went, thought I'd get insight on how to start to become a stylist & where to start. I was also hoping to get inspired and to get guidance but got the complete opposite from this stylist. funniest thing though... Last night I saw the stylist @ the premiere and was seated right next to the stylist. Apart of me wanted to say "My foots in the door Bee-otch! Even though you told me I didn't have a chance with a graphics background. Now what?! AND I'm sitting next to you @ this premiere. Get off your high horse please!!" Ha! But I was mature & did say anything. Lol. This story proves to you that when you keep your head held high, you will forever stay on the up rise! Don't let no one hold you down!

Xoxo

FASHION: [fidm | stylist mixer]

as most of you know i inspire to become a fashion editor/ wardrobe stylist. Since i did attend FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) for graphic design, I'm hoping that it helps me out a little even tho i didn't attend so fashion.

one way it has paid off is they're hosting a Mixer/Q&A on March 11 with some of Hollywood's leading stylist.

FASHION//: [ target | alexander mcqueen]

last year i got a text from annie letting me know that AQ is designing for target and i completely forgot until mina reminded me this morning that it's ALMOST finally here.

OMFG! it's the best of both worlds people. Target's joining forces with ALEXANDER MCQUEEN!!!!!!! (and other designers after him!! YAY!) now my favorite store is even BETTER!

"As Isaac Mizrahi’s final collection for Target cycles through stores, the retailer is unveiling plans for a new fashion initiative.

Target in March will launch Designer Collaborations, which is aimed to be an ongoing program that will bring a series of established designers to the masses at low prices. Designer Collaborations is a separate program from Target’s Go International... The launch collaboration will be with Alexander McQueen, who will create a version of his McQ collection, called McQ Alexander McQueen for Target." - wwd

if you live in NYC you the McQ line for target drops for you TOMORROW!!! but me and the rest of the world will have to wait until march 4th {source: glamor mag}

ENTERTAINMENT//: [ broadway | wicked]

I've always heard good thing about the show "Wicked" it's been playing in LA for a few years now, but i never had a real urge to go until i heard it was finally leaving LA to go to SF. So my friend Justin and i bought tickets and decided we had to watch it before it left.

let me just tell you... AMAZING! i recommend EVERYONE to go see it if and when you can. i'd have to admit that i'm not a HUGE musical fan. i've only seen "the Lion King" and "Stomped" which we're good, but not nearly as good as WICKED. Wicked was so good i'd go see it again.

Trust me i know i'm hyping it up and you're probably thinking, yeah yeah yeah. But even after everyone hyped it up for me, it was still AMAZING and to be completely honest i don't normally like things after they've been hyped up. but nope, they hype didn't even phase me... it was still crazy AMAZING.

on top of that we got the UNDERSTUDY, Vicki Noon. She was SO good, we're wondering how good the original "wicked" witch is?! Vicky Noon was so good she gave me goose bumps.

you guys have to go see this show if you guys have the opportunity too... you wont regret it!
